As a doctor and hospital director, I witness every day how health and environmental conditions directly affect families and children. I also recognize that hospitals, including ours, contribute to the growing volume of single-use diaper waste, which makes up a significant portion of unrecyclable waste in landfills. Through our collaboration with Bumbi and the Surabaya City, I am proud to be part of an initiative that drives positive behavior change, starting with our patients and extending to the wider community.

The Bumbi program is incredibly beneficial. It not only promotes environmental stewardship, but it also effectively curbs harmful practices, like disposing of diapers in the river. With this program, we have transitioned to cloth diapers, which, when used and cared for properly, have shown to prevent skin irritation. Another significant benefit lies in the financial savings - funds previously spent on disposable diapers can now be reallocated to improve our babies' nutrition. This is truly a transformative initiative!
